LGB 2076 "Stumpy":- The Original Build

LGB 2076 Loco

History;

Loco purchased 2nd hand from eBay and converted to Battery power with remote control.

Radio Control & Electronic Components;

  • HobbyKing 2.4 GHz 4Ch Tx & Rx Version2 Mode 1, converted into Mode 3 i.e. throttle and direction all on the Right hand stick (Stainz is on the other).

  • HobbyKing 2.4Ghz Receiver T6A-V2, compatible only with HobbyKing T4A & T6AVersion2 transmitters, (a 4 channel Rx comes with the Tx/Rx combo but any extra Rx’s have to be 6 channel, because that is all that is offered by HobbyKing)

  • Turnigy TGY-20A Brushed Electronic Speed Controller (ESC)

  • HXT 9g/1.6Kg/.12 Micro Servo operating a Double Pole Double Throw (DPDT) toggle switch for controlling direction.

  • Nine (9), 2700mAH NiMH, tagged 1.2V AA cells, from WES Components, are used to give a nominal 10.8V Battery.

  • 3A Polyswitch, from WES Components, is used as a circuit breaker and is mounted on the battery.

  • Bachmann "white noise" Sound card and 9V regulator board.

  • Speaker (8 ohm 0.25Watt)

Component Locations;

All R/C components and batteries are mounted within the body shell.

The sound board and 9V regulator board are mounted in the cabin

Speaker is attached to the cabin roof.

A DPDT Centre Off switch, inside the cabin, is used for power ON/OFF/Charge.

Charge position is used to switch in charging studs on the buffer beam, for use with alligator clips.

Power Supply;

The battery powers the Radio Control components, Front and Rear Lights, and the Motor.

Sound;

A Sound board (copied from one that came with the Bachmann Big Hauler); the sound is triggered by 2 NO reed switches closed by magnets glued to wheels, one on each rear wheel mounted 180 degrees apart to give 2 beats per rev.
